Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. If you have new APIs, clients, or source code examples to add to ProgrammableWeb’s directories, we offer forms (APIs, Clients, Source Code) for submitting them to our API research team. If there’s a listing in one of our directories that you’d like to claim as the owner, please contact us at [email protected].
Ten APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Recommendations, Location, and Astronomy. Highlights include the new Snapchat SnapKit SDKs and an API for filtering out profanity. Here’s a rundown of the latest additions.
The Open Astronomy Catalogs API provides machine-readable access to to curated astronomy catalogs, including Supernovae, Tidal Disruptions of Stars, Kilonovae, and Fast Stars. Developers can enable applications to query space catalogues by distance of object, format (example: “Return all supernova metadata in CSV format”), specified attributes (“Redshifts of all supernovae with a redshift reported within 5° of a coordinate”), and more. This API is listed under the Astronomy category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Astronomy APIs.
IP Geolocation API allows developers to get geolocation information for a given IP address. Data points returned by this API include city, state, province, country, continent, latitude, longitude, region, timezone, current time, organization, ISP, local currency, and country flags. This service can be used for content personalization, geotargeting, geofencing, ad targeting, digital rights management, form auto-completion, and more. Both free and paid plans are available. This API is listed under the Location category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Location APIs.
Segmentify offers an eCommerce recommendations platform designed for online retailers. Segmentify collects information about users and classifies them in several sub-segments in order to deliver the right offer, product or campaign. The Segmentify API is a REST-based interface with JSON responses that facilitates the delivery of engagement campaigns and product recommendations. Developers can use the API to manage visitor actions, users, product information including images, shopping cart and checkout operations, and more. This API is listed under the Recommendations category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Recommendations APIs.
Monique.io provides services to monitor high-level metrics coming from JSON data, health-checks or SQL queries. The Monique.io Storage API is a key-value storage API that is available for storing arbitrary data. The API allows users to preserve a state between alarm runs or to dynamically control the execution of alarms and more. The Monique.io Storage API is listed under the Database category. See ProgrammableWeb‘s complete list of Database APIs.
PurgoMalum is a web service for filtering unwanted text. The PurgoMalum Profanity Filter API allows for the detection and blocking of explicit text in web content. It automatically replaces obscene text with asterisk. The RESTful API returns responses in JSON, Plain Text, and XML formats. The PurgoMalum Profanity Filter API is listed under the Words category.
