Wow, y’all: seven years ago today, at the BUILD conference, we announced the preview of what we called “Team Foundation Service”. That service offering became Visual Studio Team Services. And on Monday, we announced the newest evolution of what that vision has become: Azure .

Azure DevOps is a family of tools to help you succeed at software development, and we’ve made it easier to adopt individual tools of that family. For example: if you’re using Jira to manage your workflow and GitHub to manage your source code, but you need a build and release pipeline into production, you can adopt Azure Pipelines without adopting the rest of the Azure DevOps services.

This was a long time in the making, and something that we couldn’t be more excited about finally showing you. Here’s the news about Azure DevOps:

Introducing Azure DevOps
Jamie Cool introduces you to the Azure DevOps. He outlines Azure Pipelines, Azure Boards, Azure Artifacts, Azure Repos, and Azure Test Plans, and provides links to more information about each of the products in the Azure DevOps family.

Azure DevOps Launch
We presented a live keynote on Tuesday to introduce and demonstrate Azure DevOps. Jamie Cool and Donovan Brown are joined by special guests to walk you through all the offerings.

Azure Pipelines now available in GitHub Marketplace
Our friends at GitHub wrote a lovely post introducing the new Azure Pipelines application in the GitHub Marketplace. The new app makes it incredibly easy to get started building your code in a GitHub repo. Best of all? It’s completely free to build open source projects, with unlimited build minutes per month.

Radio TFS: Goodbye VSTS Hello Azure DevOps
The folks at Radio TFS give their thoughts on the move from Visual Studio Team Services into Azure DevOps. A great listen to the views of the on this new release.

.NET Conf 2018
Azure DevOps supports any developer on any platform – it’s not just for .NET. But with .NET Conf 2018 going on this week, some of the Azure DevOps team was able to sneak in to show off the new functionality. All the sessions at .NET Conf are great but we’re especially proud to see Martin, Divya and me from the Azure DevOps team telling you about the product.
