How can you justify and explain someone that a career in software testing is worth it and maybe in some aspects better than development, DBA or technical writing.
I have had many people tell me that I made a big mistake by choosing QA path in IT industry and that I will never get opportunities to grow as compared to developers and database experts.
They think that I’m not an engineer in true sense as I’m not creating a piece of software and just verifying it. Im still a black box/manual tester who has just started to learn automation tools. It appears that QA always gets less compensation and importance by the management and stakeholders.
I love my career choice but sometimes it makes me reflect that I should have switched to java or web development after 5+ years in QA.
Please share your thoughts on this question. Thanks.
