The platforms supported in today’s launch are SMS, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, WeChat, Telegram and Line. Support for other platforms, including Twitter, Slack, Amazon Alexa, Apple Business Chat and Weibo, is coming soon. Additionally, MessageBird will soon allow developers to add custom support for other platforms using an API.
The company says that Programmable Conversations enables “omni-channel communications” and that by offering access to multiple platforms through a single API, businesses can create “one seamless thread” of communication with their customers. Specifically, MessageBird suggests that businesses will now be able to “make fragmented customer communication a thing of the past” by creating agent interfaces that have “all the context” from the communication channels their customers have interacted with them through.
Programmable Conversations is currently in beta.
